The Elliott Family Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Elliott Homes, helped expand Mercy's ability to provide innovative and life-saving care to the Sacramento region and beyond. Their generous donation, in memory of Margaret F. Elliott, the family's matriarch, served as the launching pad that formed the Mercy Telehealth Network.
Through the Mercy Telehealth Network, the only FDA-approved mobile unit equipped with a camera, microphone and monitor can be located at our partner hospitals. When activated and wirelessly connected to the Internet, the mobile robot provides secure, direct access to a Mercy Telehealth specialist. The robotic unit can move untethered, allowing the doctor to freely interact with the hospital staff, patients and family members in real time.
In addition, our partner hospital physicians get on-demand consultation to quickly help diagnose patients and develop optimal plans of care.
In a typical Telehealth session:
-
The attending physician reviews the patient's status, determining the need for additional evaluation
-
The Telehealht robot is moved to the patient's bedside
-
The attending physician and patient speak directly to a Mercy Telehealth specialist
-
The specialist conducts a consultation
-
The Mercy Telehealth specialist and attending physician confer to determine the best treatment plan for the patient
-
If necessary, hospital staff prepares the patient for air or ground transport |
