Mercy hospitals named on national 100 Top Hospitals list
Two local Mercy hospitals - Mercy General Hospital and Mercy San Juan Medical Center - have been named among the nation's 100 Top Hospitals. Only four California hospitals, including Mercy General and Mercy San Juan, received this designation.
Solucient, an information products company that provides tools and insights to help hospitals improve overall performance, released the new Top 100 list on its Web site ( solucient.com ) on March 12. A story featuring the 100 Top Hospitals also appears in a recent issue of Modern Healthcare, as well as on the magazine's Web site ( modernhealthcare.com ).
Solucient compared hospitals across the country in five critical areas: clinical outcomes, patient safety, operational efficiency, growth and financial stability.
"This is our second Top 100 honor in the past three months and serves as an incredible tribute to the Mercy physicians, staff and volunteers who focus every day on providing excellent care to our patients," says Denny Powell, Mercy General Hospital President. "We thank each of them for delivering the best in patient care and are proud of their dedication to the healthcare of our community."
At Mercy San Juan, the announcement came during an exciting time as the hospital celebrated its 40-year anniversary of serving families in the Carmichael community. "We've talked about becoming one of the premier medical centers in the country," said Mike Uboldi, Service Area President for the local Mercy hospitals. "The fact that we've been named a Top 100 Hospital out of 3,000 hospitals nationwide shows we've arrived."
Mercy General Hospital and Mercy San Juan Medical Center are listed among 20 hospitals in the large community hospital category. Solucient also recognized 15 major teaching hospitals, 25 teaching hospitals, 20 medium community hospitals and 20 small community hospitals.
